Digital Marketing Agency - Alpha Digital
Whether you’re on the hunt for an internship, looking to get a casual/part time role in the industry or a new graduate position, you’re almost guaranteed to be up against a high level of competition. Don’t let that dampen your spirits though because everybody knows there’s nothing better than knowing YOU stood out against a sea of candidates.
But how are you expected to know what’s ideal from an employer’s point of view? We get a high number of applications for internships, casual, and full-time roles. So, we thought we should provide a definitive list of what we believe makes a candidate stand out from our point of view.
Internships
You know the saying, ‘So you’re telling me… I have to get experience before I get experience?’. That’s where internships come in. As an agency, we don’t expect a great deal of experience from our interns. We understand you’ve applied to gain experience in the industry.
What we look for are merits such as the following;
Undergraduate in a relevant degree
Genuine interest in the position - we can tell if you’re passionate about digital or just here to put it on your resume
Live and breathe digital marketing
Involved in extra learning outside of your degree – gaining some extra knowledge through certifications such as Google’s, or sites like Lynda.com, or even YouTube tutorials
Have completed one or two courses that are relevant to the position
Finally, this is very important. When it comes to your interview if you don’t have an answer to a question about the industry. Don’t try and make one up, just simply say, ‘I’m not sure about that one, but I would love the opportunity to learn about it’. We don’t expect an answer for everything, and we will appreciate your honesty.
What you can expect from our internships
The way we run our internships is slightly different to a regular position. Due to the fact that we offer SEO, Paid Search (AdWords), and Social Media services, we like to offer our interns the chance to work in all three during their time with us. You can expect to gain experience in (but not limited to) the following;
Digital marketing
Google Analytics
Keyword research and strategy
Copywriting
Digital PR
Technical SEO
AdWords strategy
Social media strategy
In our internships, you’ll be working closely with our Account Managers to gain an insight into the specific services that we offer to our wide range of clients.
Casual opportunities
We have a great track record hiring casual SEO, Paid, and Social Media employees while they are in the process of completing a University degree. The great thing about this role is its flexibility.
Have an exam? No worries just pick another day to work.
Need to work half days because your timetable wasn’t as kind to you this semester? We got your back.
As a casual, we expect you to have a bit more in the way of experience. Ideally, our casual employees will have completed 1-3 prior internships and have experience/knowledge of the following;

Hopefully, by this point, you have a greater understanding of which area of digital marketing you’re passionate about and have completed at least 2 internships within the industry.
